I Matter Training for Host GP's, Schools and Services
SUPPORTED I MATTER TRAINING CAN HELP PROFESSIONALS WHO SUPPORT CHILDREN WITH RAISED CONCERNS OR LONGER TERM NEEDS
I Matter Training for Host Organisations
I Matter training organisational licences enable GP's schools and services to support the development of Relationship Health Practice in their own communities in a step-wise organisational development approach supported by an in-house I Matter Informed Leadership and Implementation Support Team. Organisations can become members once there are two professionals who have completed Intensive training - to include one with a senior leadership role
The steps of the I Matter Organisational award can be used to support staff development for working with children including the most vulnerable and for gaining experience of working effectively with parents and carers to build skills and confidence.
WHY AN ORGANISATIONAL HOST LICENCE?
I MATTER OFFERS GP's, SCHOOLS AND SERVICES A METHOD OF SUPPORTING
AN EARLY INTERVENTION RELATIONSHIP HEALTH TRAINING PACKAGE
How would it be to know that:
+ You have staff who are trained to recognise and meet the emotional needs of children and adults,
+ Your staff had expertise and tools inhouse to assess emotional and developmental needs quickly and easily
+ Your staff had an accessible non-judgemental language and tools to share important ideas with parents
+ Your team felt equipped to support meaningful early intervention, home-school partnership and proactive community building
+ you could obtain an in-depth assessment and recommendations in a time efficient fashion to support decision making
+ you had a resource bank of ideas to help your staff with relationship health at the centre to
+ meet the needs of children
+ meet the needs of parents
+ meet the meets of staff
The I Matter Organisational Licence and Challenge is for you if:
- You have at least 2 I Matter trained inhouse staff and you now want to embed your learning into your everyday practices
- You want your team to feel more confident about the theoretical foundations of their professional practice
You want a language that is accessible to young people, parents and staff
- You know that the thinking we are doing now through the ongoing COVID period is really important
- You want support for better joined up thinking working with others in your setting or locality.
- You want new thinking about how to support vulnerable children and families
- You are committed to evidence based practice but are dissatisfied with the language of treatment for disordered children
- You want to know what the research is REALLY saying about how to help children who are struggling or challenging
- You want to help your team move forward together based on clear understandings that can support decision making
- You want a positive response to the new guidance on relationships education in school
- You’ve learned a bit about I Matter and want to help your team understand what is involved
- You know that stress levels are high right now in staff, parents and young people and know that to offer your best you need to invest in your own understanding.
- You believe that a joined up approach will help you support young people and parents and staff more effectively.
- You understand that when Dr Cathy Betoin accepts a new school or service onto the organisational award scheme there is an understanding that commitment to embedding the principles involves a longer term approach
Is I Matter relevant to the full range of children needs?
Yes! The I Matter Framework is a practical integration of important research and evidence about children's development. Committing to a study and development process is an opportunity to put guided effort and energy into understanding the foundations of your team practice so that you can confidently fine-tune your approach and shift the effectiveness of your organisational and team practice to a new level.
You'll learn specific insights and skills to strengthen all relationships with young people and their families, as well as having opportunities to think about a wide range of interrelated issues. As the training proceeds, you'll find that you have a lot more fun and pleasure in your role and a lot more confidence that you are making the difference that matters.
HUNDREDS OF PROFESSIONALS AND PARENTS HAVE TAKEN PART IN THIS TRAINING OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS. NOW WE ARE MAKING IT MORE AVAILABLE VIA AN ONLINE LEARNING OPTION
HERE IS A SAMPLE OR WHAT STAFF AND SENIOR LEADERS SAID RECENTLY:
The I Matter framework has had a powerful impact on me personally and on my practice. It has, under one umbrella, drawn together all the research and learning I am familiar with and framed it in a way that is easily accessible to parents and professionals alike. It has proven to be a thought-provoking process and I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to trial this for my organization. Senior Adoption Social Worker
Thoroughly brilliant course. Has made an big impact on my own well-being which has meant that I have been more able to cope better with the expected and unexpected aspects of life in a calmer rational manner!! Head of Key Stage 4
“I’m looking after myself better at work. It has been brilliant for helping me have more patience with challenging pupils. I’ve developed a bit more tolerance for some staff members too!” Secondary Teacher
I think as a pastoral team working in a secondary school we are well placed to try and make some of these changes to try to improve the well-being and mental health of our children to prioritise and value the skills of relationships. I Matter is about supporting not only the child but the whole community around that child. We want to look at what we can do to ensure families are given the support they need for feeling confident in their parenting role. Pastoral Lead - Year Group Head
I am a HLTA *Higher Level Teaching Assistant) but also a parent and foster carer. I work with primary aged children, have 3 teenagers, and foster toddlers! This course has been so valuable for each and every relationship I encounter on a daily basis. HLTA, Foster Carer and Parent who completed First Steps and Foundation
"The information drawn together in I Matter Training is like gold dust for parents and carers and teachers of the child who is challenging us. I am loving the training and finding it so interesting!" - Parent and Foster Carer.
I will admit that when I started this programme I expected to have heard it all before because I have done so much of my own research...and attended so much training. However the clarity of this programme has struck me as if for the first time, which is fantastic. Thank you. Adoptive Mum and Teacher
“This course has been so much more than I expected it to be. I have learned so many things that have changed my understanding of myself and of my child. I have worked with many services before this but this has really made the difference. Now I know why I Matter ” Teacher and Parent of a Child with an ASD diagnosis
"The experience of learning online has been really good and I have been quite surprised by that as I thought I would miss the interaction with other participants more than I have. I appreciated the on-line consultation and was able to work on the things you suggested with my child. I also think that being able to 'try out' my learning with my child as the course has gone along has also really helped make the course have an immediate impact in a way that many courses don't. The time and energy invested by me have been very worthwhile.” Adoptive Dad and social worker,
