Thank you for your interest in supporting people through I Matter Training.
We know that in clinical, education, and organisational settings you’re often asked to refer someone for support.
Professionals are encouraged to 'sign up' for CPD that they think will progress their own learning.
With I Matter Training, we take a different approach to the referral process and to professional training sign ups— one based on partnership, readiness, and shared clarity of support.
In our approach the role of the I Matter and Relationship Health Informed local link professional is key
This page explains:
What the role of a Link professional is.
How to have an informed conversation
How to confirm your recommendation
What happens next
Instead of a one-way referral, we work alongside professionals and organisations to support individuals who are:
✔ Motivated to learn
✔ Ready to take part in a training pathway
✔ Supported by an informed professional
This preserves professional judgment while ensuring individuals engage at the right time for them.
Your contribution makes a difference. In practice, this means:
Speak with the individual (parent, staff member, or caregiver) about:
What I Matter Training offers
Their motivations and goals
What they are ready and willing to commit to
Your role in ongoing support
This isn’t a clinical assessment — it’s a respectful, structured discussion about readiness and support.
💡 If you’d find it useful, here are suggested conversation prompts:
“What are your hopes from training?”
“What would readiness look like for you?”
“What support do you have in place?”
“How might I be involved as you learn?”
Once you’ve had that conversation, you will be able to confirm your recommendation for professional or personal-parent learning via this page:
We have a clever system that enables us to make these links available to you when you have become certified as a LInk
A professional recommendation is a short, professional action that tells us:
You’ve had the conversation with a named individual (and provided an email)
You understand how you’ll support the individual
You’re clear on the funding arrangement
This step replaces a traditional ‘referral’ — it’s a recommendation in partnership.
the important detail is that Informed Recommendation requires understanding the training commitment for the individual concerned
Once you confirm your recommendation:
The individual will complete their Expression of Interest mentioning your name and contact email
We will contact them directly with next steps
We will work with you and the individual to clarify:
Scheduling
Funding / sponsorship
Ongoing support
We aim for clarity, partnership, and shared responsibility throughout.
This is NOT:
A clinical referral
A medical assessment
A step that transfers responsibility away from you
This IS:
A structured, transparent way of working together
A partnership confirmation
A clear foundation for the individual to engage confidently
We know professionals need clarity on funding routes. When you confirm your recommendation, you will be asked to select:
Self-funded pathway
Organisation-funded / sponsored
Third-party funded
We will not progress without clarity of funding — this protects individuals and professionals alike.
Q: What if the individual isn’t ready?
A: You can still share links to our free resources, and they can register interest when they are ready.
Q: Does this replace my organisational referral process?
A: It complements it. You may still record your internal decision-making as required by your organisation.
Q: Do I need to stay involved?
A: We encourage ongoing support, but the level of involvement is agreed between you and the individual.
We appreciate the care and thought you bring to this work.
By partnering with I Matter Training in this way, you help ensure:
✔ Individuals engage at the right time
✔ Support is aligned and sustainable
✔ Everyone’s role is clear from the start
