All successful journeys start with noticing new details that have been overlooked
The I Matter Online Learning Journey can be complemented by varied levels of intensity of study support. Locality Hubs are the means through which we prefer to share I Matter Training with professionals and parents and carers and individuals who want to learn about relationship health and an I Matter approach with a degree of joined up local support.

Everyone comes to I Matter in a different way. Some learners are ready to begin independently. Others are supported through a school, GP practice, or local hub. Both routes lead to the same learning — the difference is how support is introduced at the beginning. Many people revisit the core learning more than once.
This route suits people who are ready to begin and want flexibility.
All learners who complete Phase 1 Get Started gain automatic 1 year Core membership of the I Matter Community Wheel
This option suits people who want to work with a named practitioner in a local community
For learners accessing via schools, or hubs with Lead Professionals, part of the fee contributes to in-house study support and guided learning

I Matter Training for Residents with a Kendal GP
Over the last 6 years work has been progressing in the Kendal area in partnership with the Kendal GP's and local schools. We are proud to be developing thinking about relationship health practice in the community. We run the first Relationship Health and I Matter Informed Service in the NHS and we are working with local organisations to progress access to early intervention psychoeducational pathway for parents and we are progressing the first local I Matter Community Wheel programme. Our aim is to help adults and young people to understand more about how to help themselves and others overcome challenges with a relationship health approach. We work in partnership with schools and other services
FAQ.
How do I learn more if I am in Kendal?
1. First ask if you have a work-professional or home-personal-parenting-caring learning interest.
2. Then ask if you are in the Kendal area (with a Kendal GP - if personal interest) and if your school or child's school is participating. If they are participating speak to the School Link professional. If they are not participating, share this information with senior leads and encourage a staff member to express an interest
I want to self-fund
Self-funding is possible for professionals if you have the support of your organisation. Self-funding is possible for personal-parenting-learning, if you have the support of a Link professional in a participating organisation. Self funding is not suitable for Band 3 or 4 complexity without locally informed support but is possible for Band 1-2.

We are excited to be moving forward with a project to develop more understanding of a relationship health and I Matter and community wheel approach in the Kendal area.

The I Matter Link Professional Role is for professionals who have completed online Fundamentals and some Link Training and want to join our network as someone able to progress relationship health informed practice and informally support parents-carers and other professionals who are interested in learning about the I Matter Framework via online study. The role is usually as an independent, though professionals may also be employed in public settings.
A key element of the role is one of recognising readiness for change and assessing availability of suitable complementary local support, offering informal interest, support and encouragement, due to knowledge of the programme and informal community building around adults or young people who are exploring the implementation of the approach and becoming more confident in their own roles. Membership is by application.
To become a Link Professional, you must complete Level 1 online and be a member of our network and complete a short expression of interest.
If we are able to accept you, there will be a short training focused on understanding the Link role and how to recognise readiness for change.
