Learn the I Matter® Framework

Your first mission (should you choose to accept it) is to be sitting down with a cup of tea and your I Matter Level 1 Certificate,  feeling relieved and proud that you have made time (3 months or less) to give yourself solid foundations for supporting your own wellbeing and relationship health, especially in the face of challenges, and what’s more - you have enjoyed the process!

The I Matter Course for Young Person's Wellbeing is a new and exciting development in the life of this project.  Our intent is to focus on bringing relationship health insights to the helping young people with finding the way in the face of global and local issues.  This training is for those who want to make a difference but are feeling paralyzed and discouraged and need to start with themselves.

Stats show that relationship health is one of the most important predictors of health and wellbeing for children and adults...

Yet, in spite of decades of research on attachment relationships, to date we are still not given any preparation to ensure we have the skills for relationships, especially for times when there is pressure.  Then when pressures arise (which they always do), it can be difficult to find the right help - this impacts professionals and parents

The trouble is, that getting involved in relationships without preparation, or any discussion of the issues involved, leaves young people hugely ill-prepared

Get some preparation for Relationship Health Wellbeing Practice finally done..

With better understanding you can experience the relief, the reassurance, and the wellbeing rewards this brings.

Rewards?  Yes - lack of relationship health with people who matter can consume your mind, heart and soul - and leave you paralyzed at work and at home.

So making it a priority to develop your understanding and skills can help progress important conversations, help you make good decisions and relieve a lot of pressure

Why Make This a Priority?

We get that you are busy and there is a lot to fit in.  However relationship health wellbeing impacts everything.
So, making time to learn and making time for discussion will support you as you progress your own I Matter Learning Journey.

In any relationship you have a hugely important role to play in the everyday relationships at home, in school and in community in which you are involved.  Right now we need to bring relationship health thinking into our understanding of mental health and wellbeing.  We have seen that it is through discussion that the task of putting theory into practice comes to life.   Here are some other benefits.  You will

Not understanding why you, other children and behave the way they do can lead to huge stress and less confidence - that can be avoided if you understand more

If you and your friends and family neglect this issue and have to hunt for support once difficulties have become established getting help can be difficult and sometimes very expensive

When you have talked about matters to do with relationship health before difficulties arise then if difficulties arise then conversations are easier to progress.

As a young person you already have a leadership role, whether small or large, and so your understanding, your wellbeing and your own relationship health and wisdom is a key foundation for taking responsibility and for playing your role in supporting others.

There is a need to explore how to think about climate and global issues and the cost of living crisis with courage. By building community you can help progress decisions at all levels.

Relationship Health Matters

I'm Dr Cathy Betoin, founder of I Matter Training and Relationship Health Matters and I get how tricky it can be talking about issues to do with relationship health. It’s often another elephant in the room alongside mental health that everyone avoids talking about, especially with the people you care about

Here with Relationship Heath Matters and I Matter Training, our mission is to make discussion of relationship health as commonplace as discussion about physical health and mental health.

Inspired by my own journey and experiences of confusion as a young person and in adult, professional and parent roles, I designed this learning journey to help others get their personal, professional and parent-carer roles off to an easier and more start than I experienced

Our aim is to support you in building strong foundations for better joined up relationship health at work and at home

This is done through the the online young person study course or working with trained and licensed facilitators or coaches who’ve been through our licensed facilitators training programme

With the insight and tools to progress relationship health wellbeing practice our wish for you is that your work and home learning journeys will be much easier, simpler, straightforward and enjoyable!

What Others Say

I am really enjoying how thought provoking this information is and how it makes it practical and easy to explain and utilise in so many different areas of my patient care.   GP Level 1

"The information drawn together in I Matter Training is like gold dust for parents and carers of the child who is challenging us.  I am loving the training and finding it so interesting!" - Parent and Foster Carer  Level 1-2

The course was truly fascinating. Having worked in education for 16 years it’s given me a new angle and so much food for thought!  I want to know more! I think this could really have a huge impact on how we support families.   Year Head

The course has definitely met all the learning outcomes.  It has been an excellent course.  I liked how it showed compassion to parents and children.   I am making lots of changes!   Parent of 2 and 5yr old

After the Level 1:  After the Level 1 you may feel sufficiently confident that relationships are in a good place around you (at home and at school) and may feel you have progressed your understanding of relationship health practice so feel ready to stop.  Or you might want to stay involved via our regular monthly membership or be interested in a Link role (see below).

Or you may want to learn more, or know you need to build in more support for yourself. In which case you could apply to progress to the advanced programme which explores the theory to practice of the I Matter Framework in more depth.

The important question to ask yourself is are relationships around you yet in a healthy place?  Are you feeling confident in the role you are playing in your community using a relationship health approach?   If you are someone who wants to support a positive future for your community and planet, the challenging truth is that this work most often involves work with relationships and these are always challenging.   So if this is your situation and you can see the problem but it feels a little overwhelming and with more to learn - then supporting yourself with this learning is important.  Please contact us to discuss your interest.

We can work with your link adult to complete a personalised assessment and recommendations step, and customise a training plan depending on your current role and experience.

Young people can submit an expression of interest to take part in Level 1 online training with a recommendation from a certified Link or Lead professional
