The I Matter Community Wheel, developed by Dr Cathy Betoin as both a self assessment tool and as a tool for thinking about how to join up providers in a local community is now available to primary care communities and schools who want to develop their ability to progress conversations about relationship health and the skills involved for adults and for young people
SUPPORTING A WHOLISTIC
COMMUNITY BASED APPROACH TO RELATIONSHIP HEALTH
Developed in response to the needs seen in many indiviuduals families the community wheel is designed to be used to support conversations and reflection for adults and young people. The core priorities of the Wheel are focussed on the skills for goal setting, safety and participation.
The community wheel provides a wholistic way of thinking about the areas and skills that are important when progressing a relationship health approach . The Wheel is complemented by a structured rolling programme of events with a community network.
WHEN YOU AND YOUR TEAM ARE READY
YOU CAN GET STARTED TO RUN A LOCAL COMMUNITY WHEEL
In order to be part of a local Community Wheel as an organisation, you must first complete some organisation development work. As a minimum you will need two staff who have completed the I Matter Framework Fundamentals and 1 who is progressing Deep Dive and Community Wheel Facilitator Training
Primary Care Networks and Schools are lead organisations for the Community Wheel but a range of other organisations can also play an active contributing part.
Once you have staff who have completed the preparation stages you can apply for a Community Wheel license. This will allow you to use the resources and planning tools to set up your local programme.
The longer term goal is to build skills for relationship health over time.
A Community Wheel programme can start small and progress at a pace that works for you. The aim of Community Wheel is to reduce isolation and provide a forum for discussions and skills building over time.
A simple monthly after school programme is the place to start.
The aim of a Community Wheel is to work with others in your Community to provide a joined up programme of events as a part of a learning together community. As such you do not have to offer everything yourself.
Instead you will have a way of encouraging adults and young people to get involved whilst learning new skills.

The Community Wheel offers a framework for an assessment process and for a process of bringing together providers in a local community. The aim is to have a gentle structure that supports conversations and skills building around the issue of relationship health.
Community Wheel licenses are offered to organisations such as Primary Care Networks and GP's.
You must make sure that your team have completed the requisite preparation stages.
Step One - Go to the Sign Up Page
Step Two - Complete the Sign up as an organisation . This will send your information through to our training team for approval.
Step Three - After review our training team will ask you for more information regarding payment arrangements they will send you a link to purchase the first assessment for a family or add you to an agreed license.
Step Four - You will then receive an set up pack.
Step Five - Your will be able to progress to running a local programme of events.
There is no cost to apply to become a provider of the Community Wheel. Once approved, there is an annual cost based on the community you serve. There is a minimal cost per member that you will be able to use towards your own local programme.
