What is the Adult-Child Wellbeing I Matter Framework?

Why is it Needed?   How can it help you in your role?

The Problem :  What can you do to make a difference?

Dio you have a child that you are concerned about at home or at work?

Have you been wondering about how to help but felt unsure about how to help

Have you found that different people have different ideas and that this itself can create challenges and disagreements.

The I Matter Framework is a taught course desiigned to help you become much clearer about what to do and why.  It is designed to help you be able to work better in a team with others at home, at school and across both.

My name is Dr Cathy Betoin and I am a practising clinical psychologist, an experienced teacher and a parent.   I put this course together to support professionals and parents who wanted to make a difference but who were struggling to know where to start

The Solution:   An carefully taught course that organises the research evidence into a practical useful framework

If you are a busy parent or professional you probably don't have a lot of time.

What you probably want is ideas that are useful and practical that makes sense that you can be confident in that you can be sure have been well researched and will stand the test of time.

How the I Matter Framework can Help You

Firstly:  The I Matter Framework offers you a carefully designed, practical integration of the theory and evidence base relevant to children and families that has wide appeal.

Think of life as a complex jigsaw puzzle that we all have to complete in our own manner to the best of our ability. As an integrated theoretical Framework, The I Matter Framework is offered for professionals and parents as a picture on the box.   It can help you and others piece observations together so that when it comes to making decisions in relation to children's wellbeing you can be more informed and more confident about what is important and why.

The I Matter posters found in the course notes and elaborated on in the online course serve as practical powerful reminders of what is important and why and about which way to head in order to improve the wellbeing of a child and of yourself.

With a solid understanding of these ideas in your pocket, professionals and parents will find the discussions and decision-making process as regards priorities much much easier.   They can also explain and share their reasoning more clearly with others.  Most importantly when good well-informed decisions are taken then things can start to shift and then slowly improved wellbeing can emerge.

Secondly:  The I Matter Framework draws active attention to how important YOU are.   As you study the ideas and come to understand more clearly why your own role is so key - wherever and whatever that is - you will see that there are some profound issues and questions that come up.

As the fog starts to lift, things also start to be easier – though they can sometimes also be quite challenging.   So be warned!   I Matter can look straightforward but in the process of heading where you want to go, sometimes it may seem as if things get more intense first.

Thirdly: Remember the I Matter Framework is designed to support a journey.  What you will also find is that I Matter involves an onion process.  There is always another layer to go and new insights to discover.

When I realised what the evidence was saying there was a  'Oh Wow moment' then a 'surely not moment?' then an 'Oh help moment' and then an 'OK phew – lets go for it – step by step' moment.

Now a few years later having worked with many professionals and many parents who are travelling this journey towards improved adult-child relationship health, I realise that this is all part of this exciting process that we are all on.

Nonetheless be reassured that the journey to helping your child can also be massively helpful to you too!

So we hope you will join us!
