Tools to support your work with families
One of the biggest challenges in work with families is helping adults and young people feel confident and skilled in their own roles
The I Matter Relationship Health Learning Journey created by Dr Cathy Betoin and now available to licensed professionals trained in a relationship health approach and working with young people and families provides a clear practical step by step and engaging process for helping families think through some complex issues. This learning path can be supported in a number of different ways.

Developed from over 20 years of practice based evidence, this structured step by step I Matter learning journey introduces important concepts in a practical and visual way providing families with a language that helps them to make sense of everyday challenges.
The programme introduces learning gradually enabling the practitioner to determine whether the material is a fit for the presenting needs. Practitioners are certified to provide study support using a flexible range of opportunties.
The I Matter online learning journey does not just skim across the service. It explores some vitally important ideas in a manner that is engaging and relevant to a wide range of issues seen in everyday experience in professional and personal roles.
Knowledge is built up in a step wise approach and can be combined by a practitioner with the assessment process to support a time effective way of helping families make progress.

The I Matter Relationship Health Learning Journey is now available to experienced licensed professionals trained in the I Matter relationship health approach who are working with young people and families. The role of Link Professional is one of working with a host organisation to be an informed point of contact to help identify those with motivation to learn and provide informal support with the registration process.
A Link provides informal conversations only and is not licensed to provide formal 1:1 coaching or group study support using I Matter resources
Once approved as a Trainee Link professional you will be a point of contact for your organisation or service. You will be informed about the learning options for individuals and will be able to assist in the process of accessing local workshops or moving forward with online learning.
A first step for any individual interested in online learning is to complete the Expression of Interest.
The free training takes around 1 hour. If there is interest in progressing to the Fundmamentals training, participants are asked to complete an expression of intereste in an online assessment tools that will provide a opportunity to think about a focus child.
Each person completes the expression of interest independently and it will be reviewed by our administration team, as soon as the responses have been submitted.
One of the common details we observe with families is isolation and overwhelm. Community Wheel is intended to be an entry level offer that provides informal community building experienced informed by an understanding of the I Matter Framework. Link professionals who would like to explore developing a Community Wheel offer can apply with help from their employing organisation..
You will be notified when clients have submitted their expression of interest. From your own dashboard you will be able to see who has registered via your own links. You will then be able to provide informal support as they progress their programme The goal is to support progress toward more insight and confidence in progressing relationship health and wellbeing.

The Relationship Health Learning Journey is the fruit of years of research, questionning and trial and error by Dr Cathy Betoin influenced by her training as a primary teacher and as a clinical psychologist and as a parent. Cathy wanted a clearer way of explaining what the research evidence was saying to her clients both adults and young people. The result was a practical tool based on visual posters which helps people reflect on their own challenges and find the way forward.
Professionals with an active license who are training in an I Matter informed relationship health approach can register to become a Trainee provider of study support
Step One - Go to the Professional Sign Up Page
Step Two - Complete the Sign up as a Trainee Professional Link. This will send your information through to our training team for approval.
Step Three - After review our training team will ask you for more information regarding payment arrangements they will send you a link to purchase the first assessment for a family or add you to an agreed license.
Step Four - You will then be able to send the webpage link to your clients. The inital video training takes around 1 hour with a 10-15mins expression of interest.
Step Five - Professionals who are licensed but not as clinicians, should work in association with a licensed clinical professional. They are licensed to offer training for preparation, prevention and strengthening which does not need the completion of an assessment tool.
If there is escalation or complexity, a health professionals should be involved and this tool should be completed before the family progresses to use the online learning
There is no cost to apply to become a professional user, though you must have completed the I Matter Framework Fundamentals and be registered for Deep Dive and practitioner training . Once approved, there is a cost of the online licence for the clients. These costs can be paid for as part of an organisation Licence or they can be incorporated into individual pricing or billed directly to the client.
Please note completion of the online account as a personal user with a funded account, does not count for professional CPD. You should apply as a professional for your own training if you wish to be a provider of study support.
The professional who registers a parent is responsible for providing the agreed package of study support for the parent. There are a number of different study support options which we are evaluating for effectiveness. These can include face to face or phone based contact in 1:1 or in small groups.
