Welcome to I Matter for Parents and Carers

If you have a child who is struggling or challenging, it can be very hard to know how to help.  Where do you start when waiting lists for CAMHS and other support services are long, and when nothing seems to make sense?  Our I Matter Specialism for parents-carers is in equipping you to understand how to move forward with the child that you have had concerns about for over 9 months having tried all sorts of things that haven't yet seemed to help make the key difference.   I Matter equips you with a way of thinking that starts with YOU and your key role.

For Parent-Carers We offer Our Supported Parent Confidence Building Programme:

The First Steps and Intensive Courses are self-paced and offered for professionals and for parents of children with typical needs. and
for parents and carers where there are raised or escalated concerns or longer term needs.

After this if you know that a longer term process is needed and you have the support of a local professional who knows you and your child, preferably an approved Link Referral Professional the I Matter assessment and recommendation process can then help you focus in on specifics thinking about how you can best help your child with options to join the longer term support programme.

PARENT COURSES DATES INFORMATION

+ I Matter Training is for supporting children with social emotional challenges with or without a diagnosis.

I Matter Training helps parents and carers to help children by taking you through a carefully designed practical integration of what decades of research evidence is telling us makes most difference when children are struggling or challenging.  In an I Matter Training Journey you will be learning about stress, brain development, child development and the adult role and the power of our beliefs and attitudes.   You will also be able to learn how to use this understanding to help your child progress in overcoming their specific challenges..through a carefully structured approach.

Because best practice with children who are struggling always involves team work, wherever possible we encourage parents to take part in I Matter Courses and Consultations with support from member schools and services.   When school or services become members this informs parents that professionals who are working with your child will have an understanding of the I Matter Framework and are working to support a shared approach with parents.

Schools and services taking part in the Organisational Award may be supporting the individual awards  scheme.  If your school or service is not involved, you can show them this site and encourage them to contact us.
