I MATTER CORE JOURNEY: STEP 2 THE I MATTER INTENSIVE COURSE
Helping you to know how to help your anxious or challenging child
Are you confident in the theoretical foundations of your practice with children and families? How do you join together a wide range of divergent thinking into an approach that is coherent and makes sense to you, to others, or to your clients?
The I Matter Framework was a response to a great deal of confusion seen in child and family practice and offers a careful and practical integration of the most important research evidence.
The Intensive Course is a fast paced exploration of the pillars of the I Matter Framework. This overview has been designed to be completed fast - in 30 days or in 1 week (if you are brave or 6 weeks if you need a slower pace. The intetion is that you can get 'The I Matter Big Picture' fast prior to options to progress to a more indepth study process. This fast paced understanding will enable you to start thinking in an I Matter fashion about a range of challenging issues found in professional and personal roles.
We offer the I Matter Intensive Course for professionals and for parents. Parents can join a self help option but must complete a specialist assessment and recommendations step and have the support of an approved professional who has completed I Matter Intensive Training to join the supported programme.
Suitable for: Professionals in the full range of roles with typical and more complex children in direct and indirect roles: GPs, Paediatricians, Psychiatrists, Heads, Teachers, TA, HLTA, Nursery and College staff, Health Visitor, School nurses, Social workers, Clinical Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Police, Probation Workers, GP's in training, Teachers in training.
The intensive is also recommended for parents who are caring for children with additional needs and need to get the big picture fast so as to inform current decision making.

I Matter Intensive - Learning Outcomes
The I Matter Framework and the Assessment of Relationship Health By the end of this course you will:
1. Have a new perspective on the challenging or complex child and the meaning of well-being in an I Matter Approach
2. Have a deeper awareness of why challenging children behave the way they do and why you behave the way you do
3. Have a back to basics integrated framework of well-established theory and evidence to inform decisions in your practice.
4. Have increased awareness of the impact of your own attitudes and behaviours on outcomes for children.
5. Have deeper understanding of why self-awareness, and self-care is essential for those who live or work with children.
6. Have an initial understanding of how to informally assess the health of an adult-child relationship and an understanding of why this is important
PLEASE NOTE: The I Matter Intensive does not equip you to train others in I Matter Practice. The course is designed to introduce you to some key principles and awarenesses only. To deepen your understanding you can progress to the extended learning programme
Via the extended learning programme you can train to be a Lead professional to support Foundation level or Intermediate level training as appropriate.

Study support is a really important part of an I Matter Learning Journey.
It is possible to progress through the I Matter intensive in a fully self paced fashion with our start any time option.
Where possible however, we encourage everyone to start an I Matter Intensive Journey by completing an introduction and then joining a Welcome and Getting Started Workshop. We run supported group learning several times a year
We provide a time-limit as we find this improves completion rates -
The time limit for the Foundation Intensive is 1 month - 4 weeks - with weekly study support calls
You can top up your study support session credits with an extra portion! if you want more time and/or more discussion
If you want to extend your access period you can become a member or progress to the Extended I Matter Journey

The I Matter Intensive Course is for professionals who work with children and families or for parents who are progressing an Extended Learning Journey.
The course Introduces the pillars of the I Matter Framework.
Parents-Carers must have the support of an approved I Matter Link or Lead Professional and must complete an in-depth registration with recommendations process before joining.
This approach rebuilds the hope and confidence of professionals and parents by providing a language and concepts that we can all work together with that ties elements together. It just makes complete sense
