The Five Steps:  Step 1-5 Theory and Theory to Practice Course

The Five Steps Theory and Theory to Practice Course is intended for Professionals and parents-carers who want support to put theory into practice with a Relationship Health Practice in more depth.  The teaching and materials are delivered through online workshops and/or via online teaching through our e-learning portal and live webinars. The supported core Step 1-5 course is offered through a five one day live workshops. Then, you will need to allow approximately 12 weeks of 90mins for the online content for each module plus 15 additional discussions.  Downloadable worksheets are also provided.

We can offer the course to parents/carers in areas where we are able to provide further support through our I Matter Trained Practitioners. Some families find that the information provided in the shorter Theory Course is enough to be able to make the necessary changes, where others benefit from the longer journey.   We run separate pathways for Strengthening Relationship Health and for Recovery of Relationship Health

  • The Take Stock Process The Big Picture Quick Checks Assessment and small details assessment process
  • The Five Priorities in Relationship Health Practice
  • The communication styles of authoritative leaders
  • Helping children with their feelings
  • The Small Steps Confidence Building Process
  • An introduction to the I Matter Wheel
Learning Outcomes:  At the end of Five Steps you will be able to:
  • Describe the theoretical foundations of an I Matter Relationship Health Approach
  • Know how to complete an I Matter Informed needs assessment 
  • Know how to design a plan for change
  • Know how to use everyday situations to build key skills
  • Know how to use everyday interactions to build inner resources
  • Know how to help yourself and a child with a specific challenge
  • Be able to explain the premises of your own approach
