Licensing Guidelines - What you can and can't do.

PROFESSIONAL LICENSING GUIDELINES - WHAT YOU CAN AND CAN'T DO


Participants often ask what they can and can't do with their I Matter training and resources.

Every participant is licensed to use our training under two agreements:
i) A personal or professional sole user licence impacted by their stage of training or membership status
ii) The organisation to which they are attached or via their independent practice structures

Training and Organisational Development through the I Matter Project is in Phases

Phase 1 GETTING STARTED is can be for professional CPD only for supporting work directly with children and young people or
Phase 2 SUPPORTING OTHERS is for supporting inhouse developments and for linked parent education.  (Requires organisational membership)
Phase 3 ADVANCED PRACTICE is for supporting more complex and escalated needs as well as a locality programme;

When parents take part in training they can also be awarded phase 1 certificates

Introductions or Tasters

Monthly First Steps Senior Network Introductions can be attended by Named Seniors.

 

An orientation to the I Matter Framework and to issues around stress and the significance of the adult-child relationship

A minimum of 2 experienced staff members complete the I Matter Foundation Stage
(around 1 term of study).  This ideally includes
at least one senior leader starting with
the I Matter Crash Course. 

Monthly First Steps Senior Network Introductions can be attended by Named Seniors or Level 1 consolidation sessions on completion of Foundation A or Crash Course

 

You and your in-house development
team start to develop understanding
of the language and thinking of an adult-child ‘I Matter’ developmental approach – and the key role of the
adult

You are starting discussions with others in your school and service and network about the issues raised and implications

Your organisation has achieved the first
Phase 1 awareness levels of the I Matter Framework Quality Mark and wants to progress

Your SLT decides to engage more fully
with I Matter  Award Scheme for
professional CPD and organisation development to include commitment
to a developmental approach. 

An Advanced Practitioner works with you
on your school audit and on staff
development needs to identify potential for
key roles and support preparatory training.  For example: 

Developing Link Roles
i) I Matter Senior Link Roles - supporting the embedding of thinking into everyday organisational practices


Opening access to a small number of parents

i) I Matter Link Roles - building competencies in assessing readiness for change and provision of informal support for access to I Matter Award Scheme for staff and less escalated parents (Foundation B and Link training)

Opportunity to apply for Link Licence when 2 staff completed Foundation training and Link Orientation training

Deepening in house staff understanding - developmental thinking and insight to
parent role

More staff completing Foundation A Training 

Some staff completing I Matter Child Theory
to Practice - building  competencies for those working with all pupils especially those disadvantaged via Foundation B 

Some staff completing Intermediate A and Child Certification Training (Intermediate B - required for Link Plus Licence

Opportunity to apply for Link Plus Licence when 2 staff completed Intermediate and Link Plus orientation training


Preparing for inhouse staff and parent study support for First Steps Courses
i) Trainee I Matter Lead team working 
towards running access to the I Matter Challenge Award Scheme inhouse for staff
and some tasters for parents for everyday needs (needs intermediate and Lead training)

ii) Trainee Advanced Practitioners inhouse or in the locality will have advanced therapeutic experience and experience of schools and working with families (needs intermediate and Lead and advanced)

Opportunity to apply for Trainee Lead LIcense when min 1 staff accepted on Lead Training

Monthly Foundation Stage Senior Link Network - Level 2 to support embedding process

 

Your wider school-service team is starting to get interested in thinking developmentally
about challenging behaviour and work with children and parents. 

You are gaining experience in working with
others to support staff and parent
skills development

You are building a strong leadership team

Your staff (Teachers, TA, HLTA) working with challenging pupils will have gained customised highly relevant training that equips them for active confidence in building key essential social emotional skills.  They will be working under supervision to design appropriate IEP
plans using licensed I Matter developmental assessment tools to
assess and monitor progress

You will be building a team who are thinking about the process of engaging effectively with parents and building effective longer term home-school partnership that builds skills

You will be preparing for being able to
run training more effectively in house for staff and parents including staff induction and new pupil intakes

Your trainee links and leads and
advanced practitioners will have opportunities to shadow study
support groups with others

your everyday school/service practices.

You are working with an Advanced practitioner and a senior community Lead and building confidence in supporting children with more complex needs

Your team and Lead Professional start to
run repeating systems that

i) embed developmental thinking across your school or service in progress tracking

ii) support access to the I Matter Challenge award scheme for staff and parents 

iii) offer an in-house preventative education for  parents with less complex needs

iv) offer an informed assessment and recommendations process

Monthly Intermediate Stage Senior Link Network - Level 2 - works with Lead on embedding developmental thinking through
in-house practices

 

Your growing I Matter staff team of
Link and Leads and your community membership enables you to work with others to respond promptly and flexibly when needs arise in your setting for young people and families who are struggling or challenging.

You are starting to have a strong team of staff members with interest and competencies in this area of practice

You are building experience with preventative practice with parents and work closely with an Advanced Practitioner on the assessment and support process with everyday needs.

You are gaining experience of supporting a small number of more complex or escalated needs

 

Trainee Link and Lead and Advanced Practitioners will be building experience and a practice portfolio of running study support for First Steps Courses 

On becoming an Approved Lead Professional or Advanced Practitioner can apply for multiuser licence for Foundation courses (stage 5)

You are building a clearly evidenced track record of supporting improved adult-child relationship health and supporting a community focus

When your Trainee Lead Professional achieves certification standard your organisation can become a Licenced Lead Organisation

Your Trainee Advanced Practitioners will continue to build practice experience of recommendations process and support of Links & Leads with assistance to working with more complex needs

Your team will be starting to offer support to other schools and services who are starting out on an I Matter Organisational Developmental
process.

You have achieved the Phase 2 advanced stages of the I Matter Framework Quality Mark and are now actively playing a role in developing the skills of others

Your Advanced Practitioner and Lead begins to work with community to run training sessions open to other local schools and services. Local organisations are wanting to learn from you

You have at least one Advanced Practitioner who is overseeing the assessment and recommendations process when working
with more escalated and complex needs

Monthly Advanced Stage 3 Senior Link 

 

 

You are running a high quality parent education and support programme for
a full range of needs with an experienced team and strong local networks

When your Trainee Advanced Practitioner achieves certification standard they can become licensed to oversee the assessment and recommendations process

Your team is known as a principal provider of I Matter Professional and Parent Skills Development in your locality offering training opportunities for others
