The Foundation Course can support teacher and parent confidence in their immediate role with children with a wide range of everyday and more complex needs and challenges. It can also be a stepping stone to being a licensed link or lead professional supporting the learning of others.

Most professionals who work in the area of children's mental health and wellbeing know that many children are struggling.  They also know that these days there is a great deal of emphasis on Evidence Based Practice.   So what does 'The Evidence' have to say for those in everyday caring roles in schools and home and community settings - for those who do most of the everyday caring?  

Working with children and families can be incredibly rewarding.  It can also be very challenging.  So what can you do to help the child who is struggling, or their parents-carers?  How can you get some joined up thinking and support from the top when there is so much confusion and stress around, and you yourself may be struggling to manage?

The Foundation Stage is about making some time to do some deeper thinking.  What does the Evidence REALLY have to say for YOU.  What exactly are the implications? 

The basic option involves start anytime Foundation Course self paced learning with personalised forum support.  However you can also join one of the termly scheduled Foundation course with a closed group with weekly or fortnightly check in with online or local support  

After this course, if you want to learn more you can go on to the next steps.

FOUNDATION A:  FROM CONFUSION TO CLARITY

The Foundation A Course introduces the 6 pillars of the I Matter Framework and the relationship between adult and child well-being presented in a very practical and back to basics fashion that brings clarity to a wide range of challenging everyday situations.

You will revisit some of the ideas of the First Steps Course and drill into another level of detail to think about the health of adult-child relationships

The course consists of video'ed teaching sessions and and a reflective process supported by questions and live small group webinar offering study support.

STUDY SUPPORT OPTIONS

Study support is a really important part of an I Matter Learning Journey.  We offer three options

i) self-paced - start anytime with forum support

ii) scheduled classes - run online with weekly check in 

iii) scheduled local classes run by licenced lead professionals

 

FOUNDATION B:  WATCHING AFFECTIONATELY

The Foundation B course is a 3 week Theory to Practice Intensive.   You will log onto a group platform 3-4 x a week to share your reflections on I Matter in practice with a focus child or situation.   Your online coach and group members will provide supportive feedback.

We offer professionals an opportunity to complete this exercise in a parent role.  This is only suitable when relationship challenges are not currently escalated.   It can however be a very powerful learning experience.

 

Everything you need to get started

The I Matter Foundation Stage for professionals includes the First Steps and I Matter Challenge. The course includes all the key elements you need to get started on thinking about your own important role in taking forward new thinking and new ways of being in your home, work and community roles

The course is suitable for those in everyday and higher pressure professional and parenting situations.  It is helpful to have a focus child.  However this does not have to be a current relationship

We have recently decided however to start everyone - Professionals and Parents off with the First Steps I Matter Course or the Challenge as this has been designed to create a short 6 week burst of focus to get you started in thinking in an I Matter fashion

The First Steps course studying demand is very light and the suggested activities are included to help you to get the best value from your First Steps Learning Experience.

We aim to offer you 3 x 1 hour study support group calls each half term. 
However once registered for the stage you progress at your own pace.

Remember dates are not intended to create stress, 

Just a bit of focus.   At the end of the allocated course time you can sign up to become a member or you can take out an extension monthly fee.
