Helping you to help children who are struggling with theory made practical

FOUNDATION A LEARNING OUTCOMES
The I Matter Framework and the Assessment of Relationship Health By the end of this course you will:
1. Have a new perspective on the challenging or complex child and the meaning of well-being in an I Matter Approach
2. Have a deeper awareness of why challenging children behave the way they do and why you behave the way you do
3. Have a back to basics integrated framework of well-established theory and evidence to inform decisions in your practice.
4. Have increased awareness of the impact of your own attitudes and behaviours on outcomes for children.
5. Have deeper understanding of why self-awareness, and self-care is essential for those who live or work with children.
6. Have an initial understanding of how to informally assess the health of an adult-child relationship and an understanding of why this is important
Please note the I Matter Foundation Course does not equip you to train others in the I Matter Framework or in I Matter Practice. The course prepares you with principles to support your everyday roles and interactions.
On completion of this course you will receive:
An attendance certificate for 10 hours I Matter Training for your CPD file or CV
This approach rebuilds the hope and confidence of professionals and parents by providing a language and concepts that we can all work together with that ties elements together. It just makes complete sense

STUDY SUPPORT OPTIONS
Study support is a really important part of an I Matter Learning Journey.
We encourage everyone to start an I Matter Journey by joining two key sessions: a Welcome and a Getting Started Workshop. You can then access a dedicated course forum for the course duration - this is the core package
Forum support can be supplemented by:
i) scheduled online classes - run online by I Matter Direct Lead Professionals
ii) scheduled local classes run by licenced lead professionals
iii) a combination plan of central and local sessions
We provide a time-limit as we find this improves completion rates -
The time limit for Foundation A is based on 2 half terms - 18 weeks - you will have a basic study support credit of 6 sessions and 1 celebration
You can top up your study support session credits with an extra portion! if you want more time and/or more discussionIf you want to extend your access period you may also take out a membership plan
WHAT COMES AFTER FOUNDATION A?
Whereas Foundation A covers essential theory, Foundation B and Foundation C are Theory to Practice Courses with a focus on the skills to support the I Matter Process
Foundation B - Watching Affectionately
Foundation C - Everyday Application
FOUNDATION B: WATCHING AFFECTIONATELY
The Foundation B course is a 3 week Theory to Practice Intensive. You will log onto a group platform 3-4 x a week to share your reflections on I Matter in practice with a focus child or situation. Your online coach and group members will provide supportive feedback. We offer professionals an opportunity to complete this exercise in a parent role. This is only suitable when relationship challenges are not currently escalated. It can however be a very powerful learning experience.
FOUNDATION C - EVERYDAY APPLICATIONS
The Foundation C course can be taken before or after or alongside the Foundation B course. It explores in more detail the everyday applications of the I Matter Framework and I Matter Process with a focus on supporting interactions with children and adults who are struggling or challenging with an emotion-coaching focussed approach.
CERTIFICATION AS AN I MATTER INFORMED PRACTITIONER - FOUNDATION STAGE
The certification process requires you to submit a completed log book and then complete a 1 hour discussion of your learning. We provide you with a log book format. The log book and discussion must evidence your:
i) understanding of I Matter concepts within your own everyday practice in direct roles including use of the I Matter Q
ii) ability to interact with stressed children and adults informed by an understanding of these concepts and linked skills.
Everything you need to get started
The I Matter Foundation Stage includes all the key elements you need to get started on thinking about your own important role in taking forward new thinking and new ways of being in your home, work and community roles
The course is suitable for those in everyday and higher pressure professional and parenting situations. You will be asked to have a focus child. However this does not have to be a current relationship
I am a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, but also a parent and foster carer. I work with primary aged children, have 3 teenagers, and foster toddlers! This course has been so valuable for each and every relationship I encounter on a daily basis.
