The I Matter Change Readiness Quiz offers a very quick look at a big and important question.

The I Matter Change Readiness Quiz offers a very quick look at a big and important question.

When it comes to thinking about challenges for children, then the issue of change readiness is often overlooked.

Often what is overlooked is the question of exactly WHO should do WHAT changing?

So when we are observing anxious or challenging behaviour in children or young people, what too often happens is a focus on what the child or young person or Other needs to do.

In an I Matter Approach, our questions shift.   We invite you to think about what changes the adults (or the person who cares most – who could be you) can make

This could be you as a Parent or Carer,
It could be you as a Professional
It could you as a Senior Leader
It could possibly include you as a Young Person

Here are the five score bands from the quiz.  First of all remember these are just starter ideas.
< 0      You currently have very, very low change readiness in relation to this relationship
0-2      You currently have very low change readiness in relation to the relationship you chose
4-6      You currently have quite low change readiness in relation to the relationship you chose
7-10    You currently have moderate change readiness in relation to the relationship you chose
10-14  You currently have high change readiness in relation to the relationship you chose

Very Very Low Change Readiness
means that you are feeling very discouraged.  You may feel you have tried but you are tired now of trying.   This is a really hard place to be.

Very Low Change Readiness means that don’t current think there is much of a problem to think about.  This could be true or you could be minimising the difficulties

Quite Low Change Readiness – this score suggest you may agree that there is a bit of an issue but you don’t think that there is much that you personally need to do

Moderate Change Readiness – this score suggests that you agree that this is an issue and that you are starting to think about your own role.

High Change Readiness – this score suggests that you have a significant concern AND that you understand that YOU have a key role to play.

Without knowing your specific circumstances, only you will know whether this accurately describes your situation.  However, what we can say is that it Is important to remember that hoping that others will change will always leave you stuck.    Change Readiness requires that you are ready to move into a position of thinking about what steps YOU can take – even small steps matter.

If you are ready for this change process then our strong encouragement is that you now take time to become informed – so that you can take well-informed actions.  Your actions make a difference!
