We'd like to Guide You Through The Maze

I’m Dr Cathy Betoin and this is Jacqui Wilson.   We’ve been working with children and families and the professionals who support them for over 2 decades.  I am a Clinical Psychologist and an experienced teacher and I was also a  a confused parent.

Jacqui trained as a gestalt psychotherapist, and also worked as a foster carer.  We both worked in CAMHS services for many years.   We now work in a primary care setting in Kendal and describe ourselves as relationship health practitioners.

We know what it feels like to be lost in a world in which there are so many options and no clear path forward. It can be a lonely, scary place. But, we also know what it’s like to come out on the other side - personally and professionally – and to see real transformations.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve worked directly with hundreds of children and families and with their professional networks where difficulties felt entrenched .  It has been our great privilege to see the changes that can happen when the clarity emerges, sometimes after years of struggle.  When this happens, we have seen there is always someone in there, ready to do the work to make the key difference.

So whether you’re a parent of a young child showing challenges or a parent of an older child,  or even if you are a professional, the maze is difficult to navigate on your own.

We understand your struggles…….and we would love to help by being your guides and showing you a map that can help you find your find!

All our best,
Cathy and Jacqui

Here are some examples of what parents and professionals have been saying

  • I Matter Training

“The Kendal Integrated Care Community has adopted the I Matter Framework as a foundation for our thinking about how to work together in our community to help those who are struggling. Professionals and non-professionals are learning together. It feels good.”

  • I Matter Training

“The I Matter approach of considering the adults needs alongside those of the children is such a useful way to look at things and has turned the dynamics on its head for me. I have realised my stress levels are having a huge impact on all of us as a family and learning to change this is starting to make a difference.”

“EVERY teacher and parent would benefit from this programme. Parent carers are a group of people I would like to get this to. This would be a fantastic opportunity to bring a very isolated group of people together to improve the situation they are in. ”

  • I Matter Training

“I am a HLTA but also a parent and foster carer. I work with primary aged children, have 3 teenagers, and foster toddlers! This programme has been so valuable for each and every relationship I encounter on a daily basis. ”

  • I Matter Training

“The registration questionnaire really got me thinking. I realised how isolated I had let myself become and that this was not helping me or my child. I took action the next day and phoned a friend. I also made another follow-up appointment to speak with my GP. ”

“This training has been so much more than I expected it to be. I have learned so many things that have changed my understanding of myself and of my child. I have worked with many services before this but this has really made the difference. Now I know why I Matter ”
