Who developed the I Matter Learning Journey?

DSC01198-face_preview.png          HCPC LOGO.jpg

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Dr Cathy Betoin and I am a practising clinical psychologist and an experienced teacher.   I am also a parent.

I developed the I Matter Framework and the Learning Journey firstly as a tool to help myself when I was feeling confused in work and home roles after having nonetheless taken part in a lot of training.

I will love to hear how it helps you to make a difference.

Hundreds  of professionals and parents have taken part in I Matter Training in the South Lakes and North Lancashire area and now we are making it available to a wider community

Here is what professionals and parents have said

I have liked so many aspects of the I Matter Training. It has given me much more clarity, confidence and strength to help myself and my child. I can only sing its praises in every way. It has made a huge difference to how I see myself, my situation and my children and has given me the tools to be a better parent/coach for my children. It has also helped in other areas of my life such as work. Parent of children aged 5-11yrs

This training has taught me way more than I could have imagined, I love it!       Foster Carer

This training has changed the way I practice at work and in my home relationships. I have enjoyed learning online and found the modules manageable with enough to be stimulating.  I really enjoyed the dynamic of the group - it was interesting hearing everyone's varied experiences.   The changes I have made have benefited me personally, and my family and my professional role.  I want to carry on and learn more.     General Practitioner who completed Core and Extended Learning Journey

"If more professionals understood the implications of the I Matter Framework the impact would be huge on our practices.   I am excited to be part of making a difference"   Professional in Education

What if I can't keep up with the course work?

The course work is structured so you can work through it at your own pace.
There will be a recorded weekly Q&A which you will be able to listen to live or later.
It is completely up to you what pace you want to progress your own learning

What is your refund policy?

We want you to have a good experience of I Matter Training.  Our promise is as follows:
If you register for the course and work through the preparation course within 4 weeks of the start of the course, and you decide you want a refund we will refund your payments no questions asked.
Once you have progressed to Step 1 or beyond or 4 weeks after the start of the course, we no longer offer refunds.

Can I share my log in with others?

No, there is one log in per person.   The course asks you to complete reflections about your learning.
To be awarded the completion certificate you must complete 85% of the questions for yourself.   Other members of your family or team should have their own account as their ideas will be different.

If you are linked to a member school or service we offer discounts on the course costs where there are multiple bookings.

What if I need more support?

If the issues you are facing are escalated or complex in some way you may well need more support than is offered by this course.  We actively encourage you to seek out well informed and effective support in your local community and amongst your family and friends

This course of study can be a complement to working with a wide variety of approaches which support the improving of relationships.  Remember the most important detail is of you being ready to do the learning and practicing work.  No one can do your journey for you.  Stick with it though as your determination is key.

We are working on increasing the number of certified I Matter Practitioners.  At present we can only offer additional support for those in the Kendal area.

What if I want to help others?

An I Matter Journey is a very carefully designed process that has been tried and tested based on Dr Cathy Betoin's more than twenty years of clinical experience of working with children and families.   Therefore any resources offered during the Five Steps Learning Journey are for your own personal use only and not for use in training others.  They should not be copied and distributed, without explicit permissions.

If you want to support others in studying the I Matter Framework then you can apply to complete our certification process and become licensed as a Link or a Lead Professional or, if you are highly experienced you can apply as an Advanced Practitioner and be part of our assessment and recommendations process.

If you think others would benefit, we suggest you encourage them to complete a learning journey themselves.  People often are reluctant to do the work of the online learning but we have clearly seen that completion of the online work is a key part of making time to reflect as part of making key changes that are generally needed.. This step can't be rushed.  Wherever possible, participation in study support with experienced practitioners is also a key part of the change process.  So if you want to be part of that please let us know!
