Professional  and Practitioner Training

Overview

I Matter Framework training resonates with a wide community of professionals as it speaks to what many have known deep down has been the missing link in our current service delivery models in education and child mental health practice.

It is designed to build the skills of practitioners working with challenging children and with their parents in health and education settings so that they can to provide joined up effective support within their own community to help families and children in achieving a long term healthy adult-child relationships that support the healthy developmental progression of children especially the most vulnerable.

Messages from research:

+ Practitioners often lack confidence and skills in working with challenging children and parents

+ Telling teachers or parents  they should do things differently does not lead to behaviour change

+ Helping parents and teachers adopt healthier styles depends on high level practitioner skills

I Matter Framework Training leads to more effective practice because we:

+ Draw together evidence-based models into a Framework, Model and Process that makes complete sense to experienced and newly training practitioners

+ we focus on relationships as core to the change process for both teaching and health professionals and for parents and start with the participants own role and own wellbeing

+ We build motivation for change through highlighting strengths and promote self-efficacy and we focus on the direction of travel and the strengths and solutions we need to get there

Practitioner Outcomes:   Our follow-up research indicates that professionals report

+ Greater confidence in their own role

+ Changes and improvements at home and at work

+ More careful attention to their own self-care and wellbeing

+ Greater team work with others

+ More developmental thinking and understanding of the child and parent who is challenging

+ In a recent follow up impact study 97% reported the Foundation training was excellent or very good and very relevant to their role

+ Our Follow-up research indicates that the gains of training persist several months and years later

We can develop bespoke training tailored to your needs, including for community volunteers.
